John de Cameron
Sir Robert's son John de Cameron made a great figure in the reign of Robert Bruce, in whose time the clan appears to have been numerous in Lochaber. He was one of the Highland chiefs who signed the famous letter to the Pope by the Scottish Nobility in 1320, in which they plead for the king's title to the Scottish Crown and for the Independence of Scotland.
