Duncan Cameron b.1756circa
Extract from the Fortingall parish register
It reads: "Duncan Cameron Kilmanivaig Parish & Girsel Kennedy in Finart in this Parish entered their names for Proclamation". The date is 27th May 1792.
Schiehallion. The west face of this 3553 foot peak, which Duncan will have known well. The picture was taken from the northern shore of Loch Rannoch in April 2000.
The path to all that is left of the hamlet of Finart by the shore of Loch Rannoch, where Duncan and Grisell went to the little local school (but at different times). They married in 1792 in the same parish.
Duncan married his Grisell Kennedy in Finart in the parish of Fortingall. Within a very short time they had moved to Port of Menteith in the Callander region of Perthshire, where their first child Angus was born in 1793 and their second son John in 1795.
